  65. Log-EQF Version 8 is a powerful, full-featured, and easy to use
  66. logbook program for Amateur Radio operators.
  67.  
  68. DESCRIPTION:  Log-EQF features a menu-driven system, complete
  69. with mouse control. Beam headings from your exact QTH, automatic
  70. reports from previous QSOs, date and time logging (with built-in
  71. UTC conversion), notepads, and a user-defined field make logging
  72. effortless.  DXCC country and CQ/ITU zone reports are available
  73. on-line from callsign entries.  CW may be sent from 6 memories
  74. or from the keyboard, using the CT serial or parallel interfaces.
  75. Most popular callsign databases are also supported.

  77. Complete TNC support includes a monitor window on the logging
  78. screen, a terminal program, and file upload and download
  79. provisions.  DX announcements can be sent and received using the
  80. built-in PacketCluster (tm) system.

  82. Radio interface functions are provided for most popular radios
  83. with computer control capability.  Radio frequency and mode are
  84. automatically entered into the logbook from the radio, and the
  85. VFO frequency and mode may be set from the logbook.

  87. Contest mode provides streamlined log entry, dupe-checking,
  88. multiplier scoring, and automatic serial number generation.
  89. Searches, sorts, QSL label and logbook printouts, and convenient
  90. viewing modes round out Log-EQF's versatile features. Other

  92. Log-EQF will relocate into expanded memory, if available.

  96. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS:  Log-EQF can be run on any 100% IBM-
  97. compatible computer with at least 512K memory and DOS 3.3 or
  98. higher.  The program works with all video adapters, monochrome or
  99. color.  A hard drive is recommended, but Log-EQF will run fine on
  100. floppy-based computers if the following files are installed:
  101. LOG-EQF.EXE, PREFIX.LIB, STATES.LIB, and DUPE-EQF.EXE.  (DUPE-
  102. EQF.EXE may be omitted if contest operation is not required).

  104. REGISTRATION:  The user registration fee for Log-EQF is $39.95 (U.S.
  105. funds).  Registered users receive the latest version of Log-EQF,
  106. along with DXCC, WAS, and logbook file import/export utilities.

  140. ===== Installation =====================================

  142. The installation procedure for Log-EQF is quite simple.  The
  143. package includes a program, "INSTALL", which automates the
  144. entire process.  You will need about 1Mb of available disk space
  145. on the hard drive on which you plan to install Log-EQF.
  146.  
  147. The exact steps you need to take will depend on how you received
  148. Log-EQF.
  149.  
  150.  
  151. INSTALLING FROM DISKETTES
  152.  
  153. To install from diskette(s), you need to perform the following steps.
  154.  
  155.    o  Place Log-EQF distribution diskette "Disk 1" in the
  156.       appropriate diskette drive.
  157.  
  158.    o  Execute the "INSTALL.BAT" program on the distribution diskette.
  159.       For example, if the distribution diskette is on drive A:, type
  160.       the MS-DOS command, "a:", and then type "INSTALL"
  161.  
  162.    o  Follow the instructions presented by the installation program.
  163.       You will have a chance to approve installation before any changes
  164.       are actually made to the contents of your hard drive.  The
  165.       program will ask you for a destination directory, and will copy
  166.       the Log-EQF files to that directory.  If you received Log-EQF
  167.       on two diskettes, you will need to insert Disk 2 in the diskette
  168.       drive when asked to do so.  If you so direct it, the installation
  169.       program will install executable programs and documentation in
  170.       other directories of your choice.  It will make no other changes;
  171.       specifically, it will not modify your autoexec.bat or config.sys
  172.       files.

  175. INSTALLING FROM A HARD DRIVE
  176.  
  177. If you downloaded Log-EQF from a BBS (or received it in the form of
  178. archive files from some other source), you will need to perform the
  179. following steps.
  180.  
  181.    o  Extract the contents of the archive file(s) in a temporary
  182.       directory on your hard drive.  The procedure for doing this
  183.       varies, depending on the form in which you received the package.
  184.       In all likelihood, the fact that you are reading this text means
  185.       that you already have the necessary tools and knowledge to
  186.       perform this step.  If not, you should be able to obtain
  187.       directions for this from the same source from which you received
  188.       the package.
  189.  
  190.    o  Execute the "INSTALL" program which you have extracted.  For
  191.       example, if the temporary directory into which you have extracted
  192.       the Log-EQF package is C:\TEMPDIR, you would execute the MS-DOS
  193.       command, "cd c:\tempdir\", and then type "INSTALL".

  212. Once you've complete the installation, you should consult the documents
  213. (filename extension "TXT") which have been installed.  In particular,
  214. read at least the "Overview" and "Quick Start" sections of the file
  215. "LOG-EQF.TXT".  That document will tell you how to invoke the program,
  216. and will give you other information you need to properly evaluate
  217. Log-EQF.

  220. WIN31.TXT and WIN95.TXT for guidelines.
